Signed before the first real conversation, in both directions. We won't take a briefing on a launch or an incident without one, and we don't name clients afterwards.
Scope in writing, with dates
A short plan naming what ships, who owns it and when — agreed before you sign anything. If the plan changes, it changes on paper.
